Picture
June 27-28, 2025 | 10 am - 6:pm
Dear Reader,
In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, we often carry hidden burdens—traumas that weigh us down, affecting our well-being and happiness. But what if there was a way to gently release these burdens and embrace a life of peace, safety, comfort and vitality?

We are Introducing our transformative Trauma Release Seminar, the first of its kind, where the ancient art of aromatherapy meets modern healing energy techniques. This unique experience is designed to help you reconnect with your true self, letting go of past traumas and embracing a brighter future.

Learn important effective, energy techniques to help in releasing trauma. These tumultuous days of chaos and transitions, have left many in trauma in some form or another. And more significantly, many more have experienced past traumas in their lives or have suffered from PTSD.
During these special two days, the instructors will be utilizing natural energy and holistic aromatherapy approaches.

What is trauma?
Trauma has been described by many sources as a response to an intensely stressful event or situation that overwhelms you psychologically. It can be caused by a distressing event or series of events, such as abuse, an accident, crime, rape, or other sexual violence, combat, or a natural disaster. It can also be a result of institutional abuse, political abuse or such as many experienced with the covid pandemic. As 'Psychology Today' points out, COVID-19 acts as traumatic stressors in multiple ways and has changed many people's sense of control, safety and views of the world.
It is estimated that 70% of adults in the United States will experience one or more traumatic events in their life and 20% or more will go on to develop PTSD - according to author, psychologist, researcher Dr. Fred Gallo, 2007. This number has only increased today.

Other statistics point out that 3.5% of Americans 18 or older- meaning more than 7.7 million people, suffer from PTSD at any given time (Kessler et al, 2005) Canadian and American soldiers returning from war in Afghanistan are often victims to PTSD.
What is PTSD?
PTSD are the letters for the words, 'Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder'. The term, PTSD, was used to describe a condition that tends to affect many people (originally only used for the military) who have experienced extremely traumatic experiences in their earlier life. The condition causes the individual to suffer a host of symptoms, such as, irritability, anger bouts, fits of rage, anxiety, depression, restlessness, sleeplessness over the event by repeated flashbacks and it can have a considerable negative impact on their quality of life. In some cases, it can lead to suicide and harm to others.
For some people, PTSD is a temporary condition whereby the symptoms lessen as time goes by. But for numerous others, PTSD can be with them for the rest of their lives, often time disabling them to function in everyday affairs. There are numerous treatment options available and more so today in the natural, holistic approaches that can help the individual manage his/her situation and condition, lessening the symptoms dramatically.

As mentioned earlier, PTSD is a condition that tends to affect people that have undergone traumatic events in their earlier lives, such as physical, emotional, sexual abuse, injuries, natural disasters, escaping war, military personnel in a war, crime scenes, loss of a loved one etc.

Symptom Types
Understanding the emotional weight of PTSD symptoms is crucial, as they can deeply affect one's daily life. PTSD symptoms are often categorized into four key types: avoidance, intrusive memories, mood changes, and negative thinking. Avoidance manifests as a desire to steer clear of thoughts or situations that might trigger distress, creating a protective barrier against painful memories. Intrusive memories can lead to distressing flashbacks and dreams that haunt the individual, making it challenging to find peace. Mood symptoms may result in feelings of negativity, emotional numbness, and a sense of disconnection from oneself and others, while cognitive shifts (negative thinking) can bring about feelings of shame, guilt, irritability, and self-destructive behaviours. Despite these challenges, there is hope for healing and personal growth.
Embracing holistic practices can empower individuals on their wellness journeys, promoting a sense of agency and nurturing the mind and body. We encourage you to seek knowledge and resources that resonate with your healing process, and invite you to explore I.E.W.S.’s holistic education seminar on this topic, where one will be amongst a supportive community to guide you toward effective wellness solutions.

Risk Factors
It’s important to recognize that individuals who have endured traumatic events face unique challenges on their journey to healing. While trauma is often associated with military service, first responders, and those who have experienced difficult childhoods or other mental health issues, it can affect anyone.
The spectrum of events leading to PTSD is vast, encompassing everything from combat experiences to serious traffic accidents and even the distressing impacts of physical or sexual assaults. Understanding this reality is the first step towards healing, and at the Institute of Energy Wellness Studies (IEWS), we believe in empowering individuals to reclaim their lives through holistic approaches that address these complex conditions. By integrating mind, body, and spirit, our programs offer valuable tools for personal growth and recovery, transforming pain into resilience.

Let us inspire you with stories of past students who have navigated their trauma successfully, illustrating that hope and healing are indeed possible. We invite you to explore how our holistic therapies can support your unique healing journey, making it accessible and meaningful for everyone, regardless of background. Together, let's take that vital step towards wellness—your path to empowerment starts here!

Remember - Trauma Makes Your World Restricted
Free Yourself!

According to renowned psychiatrist Bessel van der Kolk, M.D., trauma isn’t just a painful memory; it actually changes brain function, often leaving us stuck in a sense of danger.
Dr. van der Kolk states that the "brain shifts into survival mode. The frontal lobe — the part responsible for logic and tracking time — goes offline, while the amygdala, which detects threats, goes into overdrive."

Can Aromatherapy help?
Are there natural techniques that will help with releasing trauma?

Why Aromas?

The psychology of smell and its power to change moods, states of mind has been very well documented. Aromatherapy, the use of essential oils derived from plants, is believed to have several benefits for mental health issues, PTSD, and trauma conditions. Here's why it can be helpful:
  1. Stress Reduction: Aromatherapy can help reduce stress and anxiety by promoting relaxation. Essential oils like lavender, chamomile, and bergamot are known for their calming properties, which can help soothe the nervous system and reduce feelings of stress and anxiety.
  2. Mood Enhancement: Certain essential oils can elevate mood and promote a sense of well-being. Citrus oils, such as orange and lemon, are often used for their uplifting effects, helping to counteract feelings of depression and sadness.
  3. Improved Sleep: Sleep disturbances are common in individuals with PTSD and trauma. Aromatherapy can aid in improving sleep quality. Oils like lavender, roman chamomile and Valerian are known for their sedative properties, which can help individuals fall asleep faster and enjoy a more restful sleep.
  4. Emotional Balance: Essential oils can help balance emotions by stimulating the limbic system, the part of the brain involved in emotions. This can be particularly beneficial for individuals dealing with PTSD and trauma, as it can help regulate emotional responses.
  5. Reduction of Physical Symptoms: Aromatherapy can also help alleviate physical symptoms associated with stress and trauma, such as headaches, muscle tension, and digestive issues. Peppermint and eucalyptus oils, for example, are known for their ability to relieve headaches and muscle pain.
  6. Grounding and Mindfulness: The practice of using aromatherapy can encourage mindfulness and grounding. Focusing on the scents and the process of inhalation can bring individuals into the present moment, which is a key aspect of managing PTSD and trauma. There are certain blends of oils that will be introduced that also assist to ground, help focus and centre an individual!
Through the power of aromatherapy, we create a safe and nurturing environment that allows your mind and body to relax, opening the door to deep healing and emotional release. We will also be introducing to you simple energy techniques, sound frequencies, meditations along with the essential oil applications.

Join Dr. DeVita and Dr. Wagner on this journey of self-discovery and healing. Our seminar - workshop not only provides tools to release trauma & PTSD, but also fosters a supportive community where you can share your journey with others.

Reserve your spot today and start your journey to a lighter, more joyful life.

While aromatherapy can be a helpful complementary therapy, it's important to note that it should not replace professional medical treatment. Individuals with mental health issues, PTSD, or trauma should consult with healthcare providers to create a comprehensive treatment plan.

“Traumatized people chronically feel unsafe inside their bodies: The past is alive in the form of gnawing interior discomfort. Their bodies are constantly bombarded by visceral warning signs, and, in an attempt to control these processes, they often become expert at ignoring their gut feelings and in numbing awareness of what is played out inside. They learn to hide from their selves.” ~ Bessel A. van der Kolk

There are numerous ways to Recover and we can show you ways in this seminar!

“Always remember, if you have been diagnosed with PTSD, it is not a sign of weakness; rather, it is proof of your strength, because you have survived!”
~ Michel Templet

“Trauma is hell on earth. Trauma resolved is a gift from the gods.”
~ Peter A. Levine

“Love your soul and let go of the past.
Past pain is keeping you in pain. You don't have to deteriorate.”

– Harbhajan Singh Yogi

“Trauma is a fact of life. It does not, however, have to be a life sentence. Not only can trauma be healed, but with appropriate guidance and support, it can be transformative.” – Peter A. Levine
